Cardano has been integrated into the x402 software toolkit, giving developers a way to build applications and AI agents that can accept payments in ADA and other tokens on the Cardano network. The setup is designed to let AI agents pay onchain for services such as online data and computing resources. Engineers at the Cardano Foundation have completed the related specifications and built the core components, including a client, a server, and a Facilitator responsible for validating and submitting transactions. The first release supports TypeScript, while a Python version is planned for a later stage. For now, the Facilitator has only completed live transaction testing on Cardano’s pre-production network. It has not yet gone live on mainnet. The update points to a practical payment layer for AI-driven applications on Cardano, but deployment remains limited to pre-production testing at this stage.
