Cardano supporter Dan Gambardello said ADA is down more than 80% from its 2024 levels, but he does not see that move as evidence that Cardano’s technology has failed. In his view, the decline tracks the wider altcoin downturn. That backdrop, along with persistent frustration inside the ecosystem, led him to explain why he has been gradually diversifying beyond ADA while still keeping conviction in the network.
He described the shift as part of a longer investment process rather than a sudden break. Gambardello said diversification has been in place for more than a year. He compared the move to his earlier decision to rotate from Litecoin into Cardano before the 2020–2021 market cycle, framing the current change as another response to market conditions rather than a rejection of the project.
TapTools closure plan deepens ecosystem unease
Gambardello pointed to the planned shutdown of TapTools as a major setback for Cardano. He characterized the platform as a central hub for decentralized finance activity since the network’s DeFi expansion. News of its closure, in his account, sharpened concerns that had already been building across the community.
He also said the episode exposed a lack of visible leadership during a difficult stretch for the market. Gambardello expected stronger coordination around keeping support infrastructure in place for the ecosystem. That did not happen, he said, and the fallout spilled into public disputes that added to what he described as Cardano’s ongoing negative optics.
Confidence in the network remains intact
Even with those complaints, Gambardello said his assessment of Cardano’s core technology has not changed. He still sees the blockchain as one of the stronger options in scalability, decentralization, and security. He also highlighted the network’s staking model and its transition toward community-driven governance as major accomplishments.
At the same time, he made clear that confidence in the protocol does not mean ignoring market shifts. Adjusting allocations is part of his investment process, he said. Gambardello added that he still believes ADA can take part when the broader altcoin market recovers, and said documenting that evolving approach remains the main purpose of his crypto-focused content.
