Cardano (ADA) is changing hands around $0.28, up roughly 0.2% in 24 hours, oscillating between $0.28 and $0.29 with a daily volume of approximately $397 million. The catalyst: a live integration with interoperability protocol LayerZero, which now links Cardano to more than 80 other blockchains including Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain.
Hoskinson: 'No Longer an Island'
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson announced the integration at Consensus Hong Kong 2026. He described the move as a major step in breaking the network's historical isolation, stating that Cardano is 'no longer an island' thanks to LayerZero. The protocol enables message passing and asset transfers across different chains.
What the Integration Unlocks
With LayerZero, Cardano-based dApps can now send messages and tokens to dozens of networks. This could open up omnichain DeFi, cross-chain lending, and deeper liquidity — provided developers and capital flow in. Specific technical timelines and which chains will be accessible first were not disclosed.
Cardano launched in 2017 as a proof-of-stake blockchain but had limited native connectivity to other ecosystems. The LayerZero hookup marks a strategic shift from isolation to interoperability.
