Cardano price remains pressured near $0.16, but on-chain data shows long-dormant ADA starting to move. Mean Dollar Invested Age flattens and declines; Age Consumed spikes, the largest since April. Santiment says long-term holders are becoming active again. RSI at 21.45 deep oversold. Key support $0.1586, resistance $0.17. Structure still bearish.

Cardano (ADA) remained under pressure near $0.16 on June 10, dropping 4.95% in 24 hours, 25.92% over seven days and 42.69% in the past month. Beneath the surface, on-chain data showed a notable shift: dormant ADA tokens have started moving again, raising the possibility of a near-term relief bounce.

Dormant ADA Movement Signals Long-Term Holder Activity

Santiment reported that Cardano's Mean Dollar Invested Age, which tracks the average age of capital invested in ADA, had been climbing steadily before flattening and turning lower. A decline means older coins are moving after prolonged inactivity. Age Consumed also recorded several spikes over the past four to five days, including its largest reading since April. The metric multiplies the number of tokens moved by the time they remained dormant, so large spikes indicate old holdings returning to circulation. Santiment commented: “This suggests that this recent flush has motivated some long-term holders to become active again.” However, the firm cautioned that such movement could reflect selling, wallet reshuffling or accumulation by new buyers, and does not prove a trend reversal. Historically, similar clusters have appeared near past turning points when Mean Dollar Invested Age stopped rising.

Price Trapped in Bearish Structure Despite Oversold RSI

ADA continues to print lower highs and lower lows. It trades well below the 20-day Bollinger Band midpoint at $0.2095, sitting closer to the lower band near $0.1405, indicating sellers still control the trend. The relative strength index (RSI) stands at 21.45, below its average of 25.17 and deep under the oversold threshold of 30. While oversold readings can precede a bounce, they can also persist for extended periods during strong downtrends. Immediate support sits near $0.1586. A daily close below that level could expose the lower Bollinger Band around $0.1405, followed by the psychological $0.12 zone if broader market conditions worsen. On the upside, ADA must first reclaim $0.17. Next resistance levels are near $0.18 and $0.20, while a break above the $0.2095 middle band would offer clearer evidence that the immediate bearish structure is weakening.

Derivatives Show Active Traders, Options Nearly Dormant

CoinGlass data showed futures volume of approximately $715 million and open interest of roughly $348 million. Volume increased while OI changed only slightly, suggesting active short-term trading without a large rise in outstanding leveraged positions. Options activity collapsed: options volume fell more than 92% to about $6,590, with open interest near $375,000. Futures markets therefore provide a clearer view of leveraged ADA positioning. Spot flows were neutral on June 10, with a minor net outflow of about $14,150 — negligible compared to earlier outflows of $20 million to $40 million and inflow spikes of $8 million to $11 million. Repeated exchange outflows have not reversed the wider decline from nearly $1 in August to $0.16, showing that lower exchange balances alone have not generated enough buying demand to change the trend.

Previous reporting by crypto.news highlighted that Cardano's social activity surged as ADA crashed, with active addresses hitting a four-month high. Rising activity can reflect bargain hunting, but also panic selling and wallet transfers. TapTools announced its shutdown, and Charles Hoskinson warned that more projects could fail under weak market and funding conditions, contributing to market caution. Yet the latest age metrics show long-term holders are no longer uniformly inactive. Dormant supply movement often increases near periods of stress or reassessment. A short-term bounce becomes more likely if ADA holds $0.1586, recovers above $0.17 and pushes the RSI back above 30. Stronger confirmation would require a break above $0.20 and the Bollinger midpoint near $0.2095. Failure to defend $0.1586 would keep $0.1405 in focus. Cardano's dormant-wallet activity creates a potential turning-point signal, but price, volume and network demand must improve before the broader downtrend can be considered broken.
