Cardano’s V11 hard fork is technically ready, with DRep and SPO voting thresholds already met and 88% of blocks from the past seven days produced by V11 nodes. Final activation still depends on Constitutional Committee approval.

Cardano’s V11 hard fork is down to its last governance checkpoint. The upgrade is described as technically ready, but activation still depends on final approval from the Constitutional Committee. Network data already points to broad adoption: over the past seven days, 88% of blocks were produced by nodes running V11 software.

Most activation conditions are already in place

The update is named van Rossem, honoring community figure Max van Rossem for his contributions to Cardano’s growth and governance. From a protocol perspective, V11 is classified as an intra-epoch hard fork, meaning it introduces protocol changes just before the blockchain moves into a new epoch. In practical terms, it is being framed as a key step before Cardano’s next phase.

Two major governance thresholds have already been met. The required vote from Delegated Representatives, or DReps, has been reached, and the Stake Pool Operator community has also met its threshold. That leaves only one pending item in the process: committee approval. Support across the network and governance structure is already visible, but the fork has not yet been switched on.

Cheaper smart contracts and ZK-compatible cryptography are part of V11

According to developers and participants cited in the source material, V11 is expected to bring more cost-effective smart contracts, cryptographic components compatible with zero-knowledge proofs, and several new built-in functions. The package is also presented as a bridge to Cardano’s upcoming Dijkstra era, linking this release to the network’s next technical stage.

The process itself reflects Cardano’s decentralized governance model. The hard fork does not move forward on the decision of a single entity; multiple independent groups must approve it. In this framework, DReps are voting delegates within Cardano governance, while an intra-epoch hard fork refers to an upgrade that adds features or technical changes before the chain enters a new epoch.

Testnet rollout and exchange readiness have already been completed

Before any mainnet activation, the update was deployed on the Preview and Preprod testnets. The article says those test runs were completed successfully, helping reduce technical risk ahead of release on the live network. Combined with the recent share of V11-produced blocks, the rollout appears well advanced.

Exchange infrastructure is also prepared. The report states that Binance and Coinbase have confirmed operational readiness for the V11 hard fork. That matters because it shows market infrastructure compatibility has already been addressed alongside protocol-level adoption. With those pieces in place, only the Constitutional Committee’s final decision remains before Cardano can activate V11.
