At GWDC 2026 Korea in Seoul, Web3Labs CEO Caspar Wong said stablecoins are moving well beyond their role as trading pairs and could become core infrastructure for borderless global payments, as well as the native currency for micropayments between AI systems. He also said Web3Labs is currently focused on two areas: stablecoins and AI agents. In his remarks, Wong described AI as shifting from static tools to agents capable of planning, executing, and transacting on their own, adding that Web3 infrastructure can provide stronger guarantees around transparency, ownership, and economic incentives. Wong also outlined Web3Labs’ operating model as an incubator from 0 to 1 and an accelerator from 1 to 100. He said the firm has established a 10 million-scale AI and Web3 ecosystem fund, received more than 2,500 startup applications globally over the past three years, run more than 10 incubation programs, and backed over 100 projects. Through events such as GWDC, he said, Web3Labs aims to build a technical and economic bridge between Hong Kong and South Korea and help the two markets become twin engines of the global Web3 push.

GWDC 2026 Korea is being held on Sept. 29-30, 2026, at the aT Center in Seoul, South Korea. The event is hosted by Web3Labs and co-organized by Techub News, HypaiLabs, and TokenPost.

In his opening remarks, Web3Labs CEO Caspar Wong said GWDC follows the idea of 「For Builders, By Builders」 and is focused on connecting frontier technologies in AI and Web3. The first GWDC was held in Hong Kong, China, in February this year and drew more than 2,000 industry leaders.

Seoul event is expected to draw more than 5,000 attendees

Wong said the Korea edition is expected to bring in more than 5,000 participants, over 100 speakers, and more than 100 companies. More than 200 developers are also set to join a 48-hour hackathon, either on site or remotely.

After the hackathon, participating teams will meet directly with top global venture capital firms and investors during Demo Day.

Web3Labs is focusing on stablecoins and AI agents

Wong said Web3Labs is currently concentrating on two areas.

The first is stablecoins. He said places including Hong Kong, China, are advancing stablecoin oversight through more complete licensing systems. In his view, stablecoins are moving far beyond their use as trading pairs and will become major infrastructure for borderless global payments, as well as the native currency for micropayments between AI systems.

The second is AI agents. Wong said AI is shifting from static tools to agents that can plan, execute, and transact autonomously. With Web3 infrastructure, he said, AI agents can gain stronger support in transparency, ownership, and economic incentives.

10 million-scale AI and Web3 ecosystem fund already set up

Wong described Web3Labs as 「an incubator from 0 to 1, and an accelerator from 1 to 100」. He said the company has established a 10 million-scale AI and Web3 ecosystem fund.

Over the past three years, Web3Labs has received more than 2,500 startup applications from around the world, operated more than 10 incubation programs, and invested in and supported over 100 projects, according to Wong.

Bridge between South Korea and Hong Kong

Wong said Web3Labs plans to use events such as GWDC to build a technical and economic bridge between South Korea and Hong Kong, China, and help the two become the 「twin engines」 of the global Web3 revolution.
