Cathie Wood has doubled down on her long-term Bitcoin bet. In a Fox Business interview, the ARK Invest CEO lifted the firm's five-year price target to $750,000 in the base case and as high as $1.25 million in the bull scenario. Wood argued that pension funds, asset managers and corporations are still in early stages of allocating to Bitcoin, calling it a new asset class institutions can no longer ignore for better long-term portfolio returns.
ARK's Big Ideas 2026: Bitcoin Market Cap Could Reach $16T
ARK Invest's Big Ideas 2026 report provides granular support for the aggressive outlook. It estimates Bitcoin's market cap could expand from roughly $2 trillion today to nearly $16 trillion by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate of about 63%. The report credits spot ETF demand, corporate treasury adoption, nation-state reserves and Bitcoin's use as settlement collateral across financial markets. Beyond Bitcoin, ARK projects the entire digital asset space could grow from $2.8 trillion to $28 trillion, with Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana capturing the lion's share.
Wood also said Bitcoin could continue to eat into gold's market share as younger generations inherit wealth. In emerging economies plagued by inflation, corruption and currency instability, she sees Bitcoin gaining even more traction.
Short-Term Headwinds: ETF Outflows and Fed Anxiety
Despite the bold forecast, Bitcoin faces real short-term pressure. At press time, BTC was trading around $77,149, stuck in a tight range and failing to reclaim the $80,000 psychological level. Spot Bitcoin ETF outflows remain persistent, and the latest U.S.-Iran self-defense strikes added fresh volatility to global markets, according to a May 26 New York Times report. Meanwhile, speculation that incoming Fed Chair Kevin Warsh could support rate hikes in his first meetings has kept traders cautious.
Yet some prominent voices share Wood's million-dollar vision. Robert Kiyosaki, Arthur Hayes and Brian Armstrong have all previously outlined scenarios where Bitcoin hits $1 million in a future cycle. Anthony Scaramucci recently said he still expects a rally later in 2026 if the traditional four-year crypto cycle holds.
