Cerebras Systems began trading on Nasdaq on July 14 under the ticker CBRS. The company priced its IPO at $185 per share, above its earlier guidance range of $150 to $160. With 30 million shares sold, the offering raised about $5.55 billion, valuing the company at roughly $40 billion to $56 billion on a fully diluted basis.
Demand in the deal was exceptionally strong. According to the source material, institutional orders were more than 20 times oversubscribed, and the indicative opening price briefly climbed to $390, more than 110% above the IPO price. That figure was only an indication before trading began, and actual execution still depended on market matching once the stock opened.
Wafer Scale Engine draws investor attention
A major part of the enthusiasm centers on Cerebras’ Wafer Scale Engine, or WSE. Unlike conventional GPU designs, the company integrates trillions of transistors across a single large wafer. The architecture is aimed at AI training and inference workloads. Based on the source, Cerebras says it can deliver higher speed and better energy efficiency than traditional Nvidia GPUs in certain complex large language model tasks.
Its customer roster also helped support the offering. Cerebras counts AWS among its customers, and OpenAI has awarded the company a large contract. Backed by those orders, Cerebras reported about $510 million in revenue for 2025.
Rich valuation comes with visible pressure points
The company’s market debut also brings clear risks. Revenue remains heavily concentrated among a small number of major customers, including OpenAI, which means any shift in orders could have a sharp effect on financial results. Competition is another issue. Nvidia still controls the dominant position in AI compute and the CUDA software ecosystem, while Google, Microsoft, and AWS are all pushing ahead with their own AI chip efforts.
By offering size, demand, and pre-open pricing, Cerebras has become one of the most closely watched IPOs of 2026 so far. The next checkpoints for investors are straightforward: whether the company can execute on hardware delivery and whether current customer demand can turn into a more durable revenue base.
