Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis said in a security incident notice that it discovered this month that an external attacker used agentic techniques to gain unauthorized access to its systems and internal tools. The company said it is investigating the activity, patching the vulnerability involved, and hardening its security controls.
Based on the evidence available so far, Chainalysis said it has not found signs of unauthorized access to investigation materials, including charts, notes, and case information, nor to transaction or query results, plaintext passwords, multi-factor authentication keys, or user session tokens. At the same time, it said some non-sensitive customer data was accessed, including platform user IDs, names, email addresses, and organizational role information affecting relevant customers and members of their organizations.
Chainalysis said it is still determining the specific records affected and will release more details later. The company also stressed that the incident is unrelated to the recent theft of crypto assets from Binance.
