BlockBeats News, September 7 – ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) announced via its official WeChat account that its self-developed LPDDR6 chips have entered mass production and commercial deployment, debuting in the Xiaomi 18Fold flagship foldable phone. This marks the first time an LPDDR6 product has been commercially used in a flagship smartphone globally.
According to CXMT’s semi-annual report, the LPDDR6 chip offers a comprehensive performance upgrade over the previous generation LPDDR5X. Through architectural innovations and data transmission optimization, the chip achieves peak data rates of 12,800Mbps and a maximum capacity of 16GB.
LPDDR6 is the latest generation of LPDDR products. The JEDEC Solid State Technology Association first released the LPDDR6 standard in July 2025. Industry sources had earlier reported in March that CXMT had submitted LPDDR6 samples for testing. From aligning with the standard, sample delivery, verification, to mass production commercialization, CXMT successfully achieved the world’s first LPDDR6 launch.
Amid the surging demand for AI, LPDDR6 is regarded as a key enabler of edge AI computing power. Its application scenarios include smartphones, PCs, and extend to smart cockpits, AI data centers, etc. This also provides a crucial foundation for domestic phone makers to seize AI opportunities.
