OpenAI has introduced a new 'Writing style' feature for ChatGPT Work. The feature allows users to connect their Gmail, Google Drive, Slack, and SharePoint accounts, from which the system automatically learns the user's writing style — including commonly used words, email sign-offs, and capitalization preferences — by analyzing past emails, messages, and documents.
Once the style is learned, when users compose emails, messages, or documents using Work, the system will automatically apply those patterns. Previously, getting ChatGPT to mimic a user's personal style required manual descriptions of tone or repeated provision of example texts. Now, the process is automated.
The community has raised questions about varying writing styles across different contexts — for example, the formal tone used in Gmail versus the casual tone in Slack. OpenAI has not yet clarified how it will handle such scenario-specific differences.
The feature can be accessed via the web interface under Settings → Personalization → Writing style, and will be available across both web and mobile versions of ChatGPT Work.
