According to the ministry, the two sides agreed under the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism to establish an AI dialogue led by Vice Premier He Lifeng and U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent as the respective heads. The two officials have already held their first exchange, covering risks and benefits related to artificial intelligence.
The ministry also said both sides agreed to set up a communication channel for AI-related incidents. The statement did not provide more details on the format of the next meeting or the scope of that communication mechanism.
