Placeholder partner Chris Burniske said in a post on X that Bitcoin is still holding up relatively well while long-tail assets continue to lose ground. He wrote that many tokens are down 20% to more than 40% from their highs, while Bitcoin has fallen by less than 10%.
He said the market is split between two readings of the current pullback. One camp believes Bitcoin has already drained most of the market’s risk appetite and that the bulk of the correction is likely complete. The other argues that because Bitcoin has not fallen much, the consequences could be severe if it suddenly drops. Burniske said he leans toward the first view.
Sees the setup as an early bull-market opportunity
Burniske said he views the current market as an opportunity in the early stage of a bull market, not as a warning signal of a 「bull trap」, and that he is therefore inclined to buy.
At the same time, he warned that prices could still move lower. His approach is to put remaining capital to work in stages, with the amount allocated at each price level tied to the probability that the level becomes a local bottom.
Long-term investors should focus on token accumulation
For long-term investors, Burniske said the priority should not be obsessing over when to enter or exit, but systematically building token holdings over time.
He suggested using an investor’s best-performing past investment as a reference point and then converting that into a comparable share of network ownership based on total token supply. Using ETH and SOL as an example, he said ETH has about 120 million tokens outstanding, while SOL has about 636 million, or roughly 5.3 times ETH’s supply. On that basis, someone who once held 10 ETH would need to hold 53 SOL to reach the same share of network ownership.
According to Burniske, seeking a larger share of network ownership at lower prices could produce asymmetric returns if the thesis proves correct.
