Under the new setup, developers can quote and collect the fee before execution, using either the source chain’s native gas token or USDC. The fee is handled in advance on the source side, so the amount of USDC transferred is not reduced by a destination-chain deduction and users can receive the expected USDC amount.
Quote API combines protocol charges
The prepaid-fee mechanism is intended to improve fee predictability for cross-chain applications. CCTP’s Quote API can calculate charges across the supported chains and combine Fast Transfer and Forwarding fees into one quote. Developers do not need to build their own systems to calculate the separate protocol charges.
The feature currently supports USDC transfers on all EVM chains covered by CCTP. Transfers initiated from Solana are not supported at this stage, while transfers to Solana remain supported. Developers can obtain a specific fee quote through the Quote API and refer to CCTP’s official documentation when integrating the feature into a cross-chain USDC transfer flow.
