Circle said its Digital Asset-Backed Borrowing, or DABB, feature is now live on Arc and the Ethereum network for eligible institutional clients using Circle Mint. The setup lets customers move through a single workflow: deposit Bitcoin, mint Circle-wrapped Bitcoin known as cirBTC, and use that cirBTC from a self-custodied wallet as collateral in third-party lending markets. USDC borrowed through that process is settled directly to the customer’s Circle Mint account balance. Circle said the structure allows clients to access USDC liquidity without selling the Bitcoin posted as collateral. Once the borrowed USDC is repaid, the collateral can be released. The announcement outlines a product flow aimed at institutions already operating through Circle Mint and does not mention broader retail availability.

Under the process described by the company, customers can deposit Bitcoin, mint Circle-wrapped Bitcoin, or cirBTC, and then supply cirBTC from a self-custodied wallet as collateral to third-party lending markets within a single workflow. The borrowed USDC is settled directly to the balance of the customer’s Circle Mint account. Circle said clients do not need to sell the Bitcoin used as collateral, and the collateral can be released after the USDC is repaid.
