Jeremy Allaire revealed that Circle's treasury team recently settled $68 million in intercompany transfers using USDC across eight entities. The transactions completed in under 30 minutes through Circle Mint, replacing traditional fiat wires that typically take one to three days to settle.

From Days to Minutes: On-Chain Treasury Settlement in Action

Circle integrated USDC into its internal treasury process to handle intercompany transfer pricing settlements. The company used its Circle Mint platform to initiate and approve transactions. Treasury teams conducted 11 transaction flows during the settlement cycle. Funds moved between eight entities within minutes, whereas traditional wires require multiple banking interactions and operate within fixed settlement windows, often delayed by cutoffs and manual confirmations.

The USDC workflow runs continuously. Treasury teams can initiate, approve, and confirm transfers without depending on bank operating hours. Tamara Schulz noted that month-end accounting often faces delays because traditional banking rails introduce timing uncertainty, leaving funds "in transit" for extended periods.

Role Permissions and Dual Approvals: Compliance Without Compromise

Circle's treasury team implemented the stablecoin process using existing operational controls. Within Circle Mint, authorized operators initiate transfers while approval processes enforce segregation of duties. The platform allows role-based permissions and requires dual approvals before executing transfers. Operators monitor transactions in near real time through the Mint interface.

Dan Fishman said the process maintains auditability while accelerating confirmation timelines, retaining the same oversight mechanisms used in conventional banking portals. Transaction reporting within Mint supports reconciliation during monthly close, generating reports aligned with the ISO 20022 camt.053 end-of-day statement standard with end-to-end identifiers for matching transfers with internal ledgers.

Monthly Close Efficiency: 90% Settled Same-Day

The treasury workflow compressed settlement timelines from days to minutes. Circle completed roughly 90 percent of transfer pricing settlements within a single day. The process involved more than 26 manual transfer pricing movements during the accounting cycle, previously reliant on bank wires. Faster settlement also reduced the time funds remained classified as "cash in transit," allowing treasury teams to confirm balances more quickly during monthly close.

Multi-Entity Treasury Upgrade Planned for March 2026

Circle also developed system upgrades to support multi-entity treasury operations across Mint accounts, set for release in March 2026. According to Circle, the improvements will streamline account management and expand transaction reporting through an API designed for accounting integrations.
