Circle confirms USDCx is live on Cardano mainnet via xReserve, enabling trustless 1:1 dollar-backed stablecoin. A community developer demonstrates zero-fee cross-chain conversion in 25 minutes. Liqwid, Minswap, and SundaeSwap add support.

Global fintech firm Circle has confirmed that USDCx is now live on the Cardano mainnet. The token leverages the xReserve infrastructure, with each unit fully backed by USDC held in a trustless smart contract on Cardano. This setup enables secure cross-chain operations without intermediaries, improving trust and usability for stablecoin users within the Cardano ecosystem.

Community Developer Tests Cross-Chain Transfer in 25 Minutes

Shortly after Circle's announcement, a Cardano community developer conducted a real-world test. By interacting directly with a smart contract, he converted USDC on Ethereum to USDCx on Cardano, bypassing official interfaces. The process took approximately 25 minutes and incurred zero fees. The on-chain conversion was publicly recorded on both networks, demonstrating that USDCx is not a theoretical addition but a fully functional component of Cardano's DeFi landscape.

Liqwid, Minswap, SundaeSwap Move Quickly

Key DeFi platforms in the Cardano ecosystem have promptly integrated USDCx. Liqwid now facilitates lending and borrowing with the stablecoin, while Minswap and SundaeSwap offer token swaps and liquidity pools. This rapid adoption makes dollar-pegged liquidity directly accessible to Cardano's dApps. Moreover, users can transfer assets from centralized exchanges that support USDC on the Base network straight to their Cardano wallets, completely bypassing Ethereum, resulting in a smoother user experience.

Circle highlighted that USDCx will power a range of financial products on Cardano, including lending pools, cross-border payments, and asset tokenization. The integration expands opportunities for dollar-backed financial solutions built on Cardano's eUTXO-based protocol.

xReserve: A Decentralized Cross-Chain Liquidity Layer

At the core of USDCx's integration is xReserve, Circle's interoperability layer. This dual-structured system stores USDC in a non-custodial smart contract while validating deposits and withdrawals on Cardano, ensuring the 1:1 peg is maintained and enhancing security. Since 2017, Cardano has distinguished itself with an academic, research-driven approach and proof-of-stake consensus. Its extended UTXO (eUTXO) model delivers predictable transaction fees, attracting projects seeking consistency for stablecoin applications.

Through the combination of CCTP and xReserve, Circle enables secure, peer-to-peer USDC transfers between supported blockchains without intermediaries. The successful deployment of USDCx on Cardano stands as a tangible demonstration of these technical advancements and their practical value.
