Four years after its initial release, the popular mobile simulation game Bitcoin Miner has finally integrated real bitcoin rewards. On Thursday, developer Fumb Games announced a partnership with fintech firm Zebedee, enabling players to earn actual BTC while playing the game.
A Long-Awaited Feature
Paul West, founder of Fumb Games, explained in a statement: “We originally released Bitcoin Miner about four years ago, when crypto started taking off. But there was no real appetite for the game, as it wasn’t possible to enable players to earn actual Bitcoin with it at the time.” With Zebedee’s technology, that limitation is now gone. Zebedee, based in Hoboken, New Jersey, specializes in integrating bitcoin into gaming and raised $11.5 million in September 2021 in a round led by Lakestar.
How the Rewards Work
According to Zebedee’s blog post, players will see a green satoshi symbol appear over a coin during gameplay. Tapping that symbol earns real bitcoin, which accumulates in the game. To withdraw, users select “Cash Out,” enter their ZBD Gamertag, and tap “Redeem.” The bitcoin is then transferred to the Zebedee app, from which it can be further withdrawn or spent. The game itself is an idle mining simulator: players complete tasks to acquire more rigs, invest in infrastructure, secure airdrops, upgrade equipment, and level up for better rewards.
Broader Implications for Crypto Gaming
Simon Cowell, CEO of Zebedee, commented: “Bitcoin is an amazing technology for human progress. We are passionate for the technology of Bitcoin itself and hope that fun and easily approachable games like Bitcoin Miner will foster curiosity about bitcoin and get more people of all ages and backgrounds learning about it and participating in the new digital economy powered by Bitcoin.” The integration turns a simple idle game into a genuine earning experience, albeit with small amounts. It also serves as an educational tool, introducing new users to bitcoin wallets and withdrawals in a low-risk, engaging environment.
As the gaming industry increasingly explores blockchain and digital asset integration, the Bitcoin Miner–Zebedee partnership sets a precedent for how traditional mobile games can add real cryptocurrency rewards without compromising gameplay. The move could inspire other developers to seek similar partnerships, further bridging the gap between casual gaming and the crypto economy.
