Coinbase-backed AI payments protocol x402 has launched Agentic.market, a new platform designed to give AI agents and human users a single place to find, access, and pay for online services that support x402.
Coinbase product lead Nick Prince said the goal is to “give humans and their agents access to thousands of services, with zero API keys required.” He described Agentic.market as a storefront where users can discover, compare, and use services that work with x402. The release adds a discovery layer to the protocol, not just a payment rail.
One marketplace for services AI agents can actually use
Prince said the platform is aimed at a clear gap in the current AI agent market. Users looking for services their agents can access have often relied on scattered information and informal recommendations. Agentic.market is built to organize those options in one place and make service discovery easier.
The marketplace includes services and websites that AI agents can use, including CoinGecko, Google Flights, and X. It also combines a web interface for people with a programmatic layer for agents, allowing them to search, filter, and connect to services during operation. In practice, the platform is meant for both browsing and direct machine use.
x402 launched in May 2025 and allows AI agents to make internet payments with stablecoins. Its name comes from the rarely used HTTP status code 402 Payment Required. Coinbase and its partners have presented the protocol as infrastructure for AI-driven online commerce.
Prince said the setup gives AI agents “skills,” meaning code that explains how to use a service. Agents also receive a wallet, which lets them buy services and sell services. The idea is to let agents complete more tasks without requiring a human to approve each step directly.
Backing expands across tech and payments firms
Earlier this month, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services backed the launch of the x402 Foundation, which will govern the protocol. Other companies and organizations that expressed support for the effort include American Express, Mastercard, Visa, Cloudflare, Shopify, Stripe, Circle, Base, Polygon Labs, the Solana Foundation, Thirdweb, and KakaoPay.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said, “There will be more AI agents transacting online than humans very soon.” Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire made a similar projection in January, saying that “literally billions of AI agents” could transact on blockchains within three to five years. With Agentic.market now live, x402 is taking a more direct position in that push toward AI payment infrastructure.
