Coinbase has integrated Chainlink DataLink to publish exchange market data onchain for the first time. The rollout covers the pricing and market datasets used across billions in trading volume, including spot prices, perpetual futures, order book data, and derivatives information that onchain applications can consume directly.

Order book and derivatives feeds move onto blockchain networks

According to company statements, the publicly listed digital asset exchange is using Chainlink DataLink to distribute premium exchange data onchain. The integration includes datasets from Coinbase International Exchange and Coinbase Derivatives Exchange, extending beyond core crypto markets to cover metals, energy, and equity futures.

Chainlink serves as the delivery layer for this data. It standardizes feeds for decentralized applications, allowing developers to access verified market inputs without building separate ingestion systems for each venue. In simple terms, the path from exchange data to smart contracts becomes more direct.

DeFi protocols gain direct access to institutional-grade inputs

The new setup gives decentralized finance applications access to Coinbase market data for pricing and risk management. The source material points to lending protocols, derivatives platforms, and synthetic asset systems as potential users. Those protocols can also plug the data into pricing models and internal risk engines.

The same information can support structured products and tokenized real-world assets. Coinbase Markets Vice President Liz Martin said the integration builds on earlier work between the two companies and brings Coinbase market data onchain for the first time. Chainlink Labs Chief Business Officer Johann Eid said the system is designed to deliver exchange-level data securely into programmable environments.

Earlier CCIP work set the stage for a wider partnership

The DataLink launch follows earlier technical integrations between Coinbase and Chainlink. The report cites the Base-Solana bridge, which is secured through Chainlink CCIP, as one example of that existing relationship.

Coinbase has also selected CCIP as its exclusive interoperability provider for wrapped assets. With DataLink now added, the partnership stretches from cross-chain infrastructure into onchain market data distribution, while Chainlink continues to expand its position as a data infrastructure layer across multiple blockchain networks.
