The Nasdaq-listed cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced Thursday that users can now purchase Bitcoin and other digital assets using Apple Pay, and withdraw cash instantly up to $100,000 per transaction – available around the clock. The company also revealed that Google Pay support for crypto buys is coming later this fall.

Buying Crypto with Apple Pay

Prakash Hariramani, Senior Director of Coinbase’s Payments & Financial Hub, stated: “We’re introducing new and seamless ways to enable crypto buys with linked debit cards to Apple Pay and Google Pay, and instant cashouts up to $100,000 per transaction available 24/7.” He emphasized that these payment options are designed to lower the barrier to entry for cryptocurrency investors.

Coinbase elaborated: “If you already have a Visa or Mastercard debit card linked in your Apple Wallet, Apple Pay will automatically appear as a payment method when you’re buying crypto with Coinbase on an Apple Pay-supported iOS device or Safari web browser.” U.S. customers can also buy cryptocurrencies via ACH or wire transfer, debit card, or funds from their Coinbase USD wallet.

In June, Coinbase had enabled selected users to use the Coinbase Card with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Thursday's announcement goes further, removing the need for a Coinbase Card – any Apple Pay-enabled debit card will work. This represents a significant upgrade in payment convenience.

Global Expansion and Google Pay Integration

Reiterating its global expansion plans, Coinbase stated it “now accepts crypto buys via linked Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards in 20+ countries, with more on the way.” The company added: “Later this fall you’ll be able to buy crypto with Google Pay, a safe, simple, and secure way to pay that’s used by more than 150 million people in 40 countries every month.”

The move comes amid surging interest in cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin near all-time highs. By integrating widely-used mobile payment methods like Apple Pay and soon Google Pay, Coinbase aims to simplify the fiat-to-crypto onramp for millions of mainstream users. The $100,000 instant cashout limit caters to both retail and high-volume traders, allowing them to exit positions without waiting days for bank settlement.

Coinbase supports over 100 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and more. Users can purchase instantly on the Coinbase iOS app or through Safari web browser without pre-funding an account. The instant cashout feature applies to all supported assets, with funds sent directly to bank accounts or debit cards.

As always, cryptocurrency investments carry significant risk. Coinbase assures that all transactions are protected by platform security measures and comply with local regulations.
