System Update Broadens Coinbase’s Multi-Asset Scope
According to ChainCatcher, Coinbase has released its latest enterprise-level “System Update,” introducing a series of new products and infrastructure upgrades as it further expands toward its “Everything Exchange” positioning. The update covers crypto assets, stocks, options, perpetual contracts, prediction markets, token issuance and intelligent financial services. In Coinbase’s description, the main trading platform is being extended beyond a single crypto trading venue into a broader application that supports multiple asset classes and financial service functions.
One of the central elements in the update is an AI investment advisory system that has been registered with the SEC. Coinbase said the system will be integrated into its main trading platform and will form part of its intelligent financial services offering. The SEC registration is presented in the announcement as a key feature of the advisory system. By placing the AI investment adviser inside its core platform, Coinbase is aligning the feature with the wider “Everything Exchange” framework and its aim to let users handle more trading and financial management tasks within one application.
Unified Liquidity, Consumer Benefits and Product Upgrades
On the infrastructure side, Coinbase announced that it is connecting global unified liquidity between its U.S. and international platforms. The unified liquidity arrangement covers both spot crypto assets and derivatives trading. Coinbase said the purpose is to improve market depth and execution efficiency. By including spot crypto and derivatives within the same liquidity initiative, the System Update addresses infrastructure links between its U.S. and international businesses rather than focusing on a single market segment.
For consumer-facing services, Coinbase One Card is receiving new benefits. Users can stake between 500 and 5,000 USDC to obtain the card. They can also use the Travel Portal launched through Coinbase’s partnership with Booking.com to book travel and receive 5% bitcoin back. In this part of the update, USDC is used as the staking asset for card access, Booking.com is connected to the travel booking portal, and bitcoin is used as the reward format.
Coinbase also highlighted several trading products that have recently launched or are being advanced, including thematic stock indexes, pre-IPO perpetual contracts, new features related to options trading, and upgrades to its developer platform. The company said its goal is to become a one-stop application for users to conduct multi-asset trading and intelligent financial management. Taken together, the System Update brings trading products, infrastructure, consumer benefits and developer platform improvements into a single enterprise-level release under the “Everything Exchange” direction.
