Coinbase Global Inc. (Nasdaq: COIN), the leading U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange and financial technology company, took a major leap on Feb. 24, 2026, by opening stock and ETF trading to everyone in the United States. The company simultaneously announced a strategic partnership with Yahoo Finance, further advancing its ambitious 'Everything Exchange' strategy.
From Crypto to Equities: 8,000+ Stocks, Zero Commission, 24/5 Access
In a blog post, Coinbase confirmed that users can now buy, sell, and manage U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) alongside cryptocurrency holdings within a single app and account. The platform offers 24/5 trading (five days a week, 24 hours a day), zero commissions for self-directed trades, and fractional shares starting at $1. Instant funding with USD or USDC is supported, and Coinbase One members earn rewards on USDC balances. Securities are offered through Coinbase Capital Markets Corp., while digital asset services are provided by Coinbase Inc. Eligibility requirements and certain fees apply.
The collaboration with Yahoo Finance connects Coinbase to a platform with more than 150 million global monthly visitors. Users can now move seamlessly from researching an asset on Yahoo Finance to executing a trade on Coinbase with a single click. Real-time Coinbase data is also integrated into Yahoo Finance for tracking and discovery. Clearing, custody, and execution services are provided by Apex Fintech Solutions.
CEO Brian Armstrong posted on X: “Big moment – you can now trade stocks on Coinbase. The everything exchange is growing. This is another step toward our vision of offering tokenized equities. We’re not stopping until Coinbase is the #1 financial app in the world.”
The 'Everything Exchange' Vision in Full Swing
Coinbase's Everything Exchange strategy became central to its public roadmap in late 2025, when executives introduced a three-layered plan spanning trading, financial services, and on-chain applications. The company acquired on-chain trading platform Vector and held a December product event highlighting stock trading, prediction markets via Kalshi, and tokenized assets. During the fourth-quarter earnings call in February 2026, Armstrong noted the strategy was gaining traction after launching prediction markets and a limited equities beta, culminating in the full public rollout of 24/5 stock and ETF trading to all eligible U.S. users.
Coinbase also posted on X: “8,000+ stocks. 24/5 trading. One app. Stock trading is live in the U.S., and we’ve partnered with Yahoo Finance to power real-time discovery for traders everywhere. Wall Street, meet crypto.”
Future Plans: Global Expansion and Tokenized Equities
Coinbase outlined further milestones: expanding 24/5 trading to additional equities in the coming months, introducing equity perpetuals for non-U.S. traders through its Bermuda subsidiary (Coinbase Bermuda Ltd.), and eventually rolling out tokenized stocks. These initiatives aim to diversify revenue beyond crypto and strengthen Coinbase's competitive position against traditional brokerages like Robinhood and Charles Schwab, as well as other fintech platforms.
The zero-commission stock offering and the Yahoo Finance integration provide Coinbase with a powerful user acquisition channel. Tokenized equities and global products, if successfully launched, could unlock new revenue streams and expand the company's long-term market opportunity. The Everything Exchange vision is rapidly becoming a reality, driving deeper convergence between cryptocurrency and traditional finance.
