Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) has detailed a sweeping global expansion throughout November 2025, unveiling new lending products, international market entries, and enhanced onchain capabilities. In a December 2 post on X, the exchange highlighted progress across retail, institutional, and developer segments, with CEO Brian Armstrong declaring: "November was a big month at Coinbase. December is going to be even bigger."
Lending and Acquisitions: ETH-Backed Loans and Vector.fun
Coinbase launched ETH-backed loans for eligible U.S. users outside New York, allowing borrowers to leverage their Ether holdings for dollar liquidity. The company also acquired Vector.fun, an onchain trading platform built on Solana, to strengthen its presence in one of crypto's busiest ecosystems. Additionally, Coinbase completed its reincorporation to Texas, aligning with a regulatory environment that encourages innovation.
International Expansion: Brazil, UK, Singapore, and More
Coinbase expanded DEX access in Brazil, launched daily-interest GBP savings accounts in the UK through Clear Bank, and unveiled business accounts in Singapore. The company also supported early-stage Web3 founders via a partnership with Residency and showcased its Base ecosystem at Devcon in Buenos Aires, which included the debut of an Argentine stablecoin.
Token Sales and Institutional Products: Monad and cbBTC
Coinbase debuted its token sales platform with Monad, attracting approximately 86,000 participants and $269 million in commitments. For institutional clients, Coinbase launched cbBTC on Base, enabling Prime users to convert Bitcoin 1:1 into a wrapped asset for trading and DeFi. Base also enabled institutional transfers of J.P. Morgan’s USD deposit token, bridging traditional finance with decentralized infrastructure.
Community and Developer Ecosystem
Coinbase One Member’s Week delivered rewards and discounts to subscribers. The company also hinted at a system update event on December 17. While critics warn that rapid product expansion could invite regulatory scrutiny, proponents argue that diversified global reach, institutional-grade rails, and broader onchain tools position crypto markets for sustained adoption.
