Coinbase has rolled out stock and ETF trading across the United States, bringing more than 8,000 stocks and ETFs into the same app where users already hold and trade crypto. The company said customers can now buy, sell, and manage equities, ETFs, and digital assets from a single account. The service includes 24/5 trading, zero-commission self-directed trades, and fractional shares starting at $1.
Stocks, ETFs, and crypto now sit inside one Coinbase account
According to Coinbase, U.S. customers can trade traditional securities without leaving the platform they already use for crypto. Users can fund instantly with USD or USDC, and Coinbase One members can earn rewards on USDC balances. Securities are offered through Coinbase Capital Markets Corp., while digital asset services are provided by Coinbase Inc.. The company added that certain eligibility requirements and fees may still apply.
CEO Brian Armstrong said on X that stock trading on Coinbase marks another step in the company’s “Everything Exchange” buildout. He tied the launch directly to Coinbase’s longer-term goal of offering tokenized equities, adding that the company wants to become the world’s number one financial app.
Yahoo Finance partnership links research and execution
The launch also comes with a distribution and data partnership. Coinbase said its collaboration with Yahoo Finance connects the exchange to a platform with more than 150 million monthly global visitors, letting users move from researching an asset to placing a trade with one click. Yahoo Finance will also integrate real-time Coinbase data for tracking and discovery. Brokerage infrastructure, including clearing, custody, and execution, is supported by Apex Fintech Solutions.
Everything Exchange roadmap extends beyond U.S. equities
Coinbase framed the stock launch as part of a broader product strategy rather than a standalone release. In late 2025, the company laid out a three-layer roadmap covering trading, financial services, and onchain applications. It later acquired onchain trading platform Vector and used a December product event to highlight stock trading, prediction markets through Kalshi, and tokenized assets. On its February fourth-quarter earnings call, Armstrong said the strategy had started gaining traction after the rollout of prediction markets and a limited equities beta.
Coinbase said it plans to expand 24/5 trading to additional equities in the coming months. It also intends to introduce equity perpetuals for non-U.S. traders through Coinbase Bermuda Ltd., followed by tokenized stocks at a later stage. In its latest X post, the company summed up the launch with a short message: “8,000+ stocks. 24/5 trading. One app.”
