Coinbase released its Q2 2026 Solana validator performance report on Aug 6, detailing its staking operation across the network. At the end of Q2, the exchange was running 23 validators in seven countries with 41.63 million SOL staked, equal to 9.72% of all SOL staked on the network. Those validators recorded a 6.52% annualized yield, outperforming the 6.38% network average by about 14 basis points. Even more notable on the reliability side: the skip rate stood at just 0.035%, roughly a quarter of the 0.136% average, which translates into about 75% fewer missed blocks than the typical validator. Coinbase attributes the results to running only Solana Foundation-approved client software and avoiding the kind of aggressive MEV timing tactics that hurt end users. Its client stack covers Harmonic, Jito, JitoBAM and Firedancer, with 100% approved by the Solana Foundation. On the security side, the exchange has deployed dual-signature protection and a near-zero-downtime deployment plan. The company also said its full validator cluster has joined the DoubleZero network, showing roughly 99.9% session uptime, and is ready for the Alpenglow mainnet upgrade slated for the second half of the year.

Coinbase published its Q2 2026 Solana validator performance report on Aug 6, detailing how its staking operation ran through the quarter. By the end of Q2, the exchange was running 23 validators across seven countries and staking 41.63 million SOL, or 9.72% of the network's total staked supply.

Yield beat the network; skip rate fell sharply

On returns, Coinbase validators posted an annualized yield of 6.52%, roughly 14 basis points better than the 6.38% network average. The more striking number was on reliability: its skip rate came in at 0.035%, close to a quarter of the 0.136% average, meaning Coinbase missed about 75% fewer blocks than the typical validator.

Coinbase credits that performance to two decisions: it runs only client software vetted by the Solana Foundation and steers clear of aggressive MEV timing strategies that would come at the expense of end users.

Clients, security and the road ahead

The report also detailed its infrastructure and security setup. Coinbase's client strategy spans four implementations — Harmonic, Jito, JitoBAM and Firedancer — with 100% approved by the Solana Foundation. On the security front, it has deployed dual-signature protection alongside a near-zero-downtime deployment plan.

Looking ahead, the exchange said its entire validator cluster has connected to the DoubleZero network, with session uptime around 99.9%. The operation is also ready for the Alpenglow mainnet upgrade scheduled for the second half of the year.
