Coinbase is redefining who it competes with. According to MarsBit, the company is expanding access to U.S. stocks, options, derivatives, prediction markets and unlisted assets as it pushes a transition from a crypto exchange into an all-asset brokerage platform. Under this framing, Coinbase’s competitive field is no longer limited to crypto trading venues and extends into broader brokerage and financial account services.
From Crypto Exchange to All-Asset Brokerage
As part of this shift, Coinbase has introduced an AI investment advisory product, a global liquidity pool and a financial card. Together, these products are designed to support what the report describes as a “super financial account” covering trading, payments and consumption. The account concept places asset access, liquidity and spending functions within a single platform structure.
With this broader product direction, Coinbase’s focus is moving toward challenging traditional brokerages such as Robinhood. The company is also exploring next-generation financial infrastructure driven by AI Agents, connecting artificial intelligence tools with brokerage, liquidity and account-based financial services.
