CoinMarketCap has launched a new CMC AI endpoint family in its Pro API, turning the AI-generated insights shown on its homepage and Coin Detail Pages into structured data for developers. The release adds an explanatory layer on top of standard market data by returning the same questions, answers, and source material in JSON format, making the content suitable for direct product integration rather than site-only consumption. The initial rollout includes three endpoints: a market feed covering trending narratives, sentiment, momentum, and top news with 30-minute refreshes; a per-cryptocurrency endpoint for the top 100 assets by market capitalization; and a coverage map that shows which assets currently have content available. Each response includes a short summary, a longer markdown body, source URLs, and a count of total sources, with links canonicalized and deduplicated. CoinMarketCap said the content is retrieved from its database instead of being generated at request time, which is intended to keep responses consistent and repeatable. The endpoint family is available on Enterprise plans at launch, while a separate monthly AI credit allowance for other tiers, including the free plan, is planned for a later release.

CoinMarketCap has added a new CMC AI endpoint family to its Pro API, making the AI-generated insights shown across the company’s homepage and Coin Detail Pages available to developers as structured data.

The new endpoints return the same questions, answers, and supporting sources in JSON, allowing teams to build that material directly into their products instead of relying on the website interface alone. While many crypto data APIs focus on prices, volumes, and market capitalizations, CoinMarketCap said these endpoints add an explanation layer on top of raw market data.

Three endpoints launch together

The initial release includes three endpoints.

  • A market feed that covers trending narratives, sentiment, momentum, and top news, refreshed every 30 minutes.
  • A per-cryptocurrency endpoint that returns a fixed set of questions for each of the top 100 assets by market capitalization, including why a price moved that day, what is next on the project roadmap, and what changed in its codebase.
  • A coverage map showing which assets currently have content available.

Each answer is pre-split into a short summary and a longer markdown body. Responses also include the source URLs behind the answer and a count of the total sources used. CoinMarketCap said source links are canonicalized and deduplicated.

Responses come from the database, not on-demand generation

According to the release, the content is retrieved from CoinMarketCap’s database rather than generated at the moment of the request. That design is meant to keep responses consistent and repeatable.

Rush, CEO of CoinMarketCap, said: 「CoinMarketCap has been the industry’s leading reference point for crypto data for over a decade. These new CMC AI endpoints make that API data even more powerful, because developers can now pull the number and the reasoning behind it in a single call, with the sources attached.」

Extension of the existing API stack

The company described the launch as an extension of an interface that already spans spot and derivatives markets, decentralized exchange and on-chain data, real-world assets, proprietary indices including the CoinMarketCap Fear and Greed Index, and real-time streaming, all under a single API integration.

The CMC AI family is available on Enterprise plans at launch. CoinMarketCap said a separate monthly AI credit allowance is scheduled for a later release, which would open the endpoints to all other plan tiers, including the free tier.

Documentation and access

Full parameters, response fields, and worked examples are available in the CoinMarketCap Pro API reference at coinmarketcap.com/api/documentation. API keys can be created at coinmarketcap.com/api. The company said enterprise-related questions can be directed to API Sales.
