ComfyUI, the node-based AI generation platform, has raised $30 million in a new funding round at a $500 million valuation. The round was led by Craft Ventures, with participation from Pace Capital, Chemistry, and TruArrow. The deal comes a little over a year after its $19 million Series A at the end of 2024, showing how quickly investor interest has built around the company.
According to the company, ComfyUI now has more than 4 million users and sees 150,000 downloads a day. Founded in 2023, it has positioned itself around a different creative workflow: instead of relying on a single prompt box, it lets users break image generation into separate nodes and control each stage more precisely.
Why ComfyUI Built Around Nodes Instead of Prompts
When diffusion models first began spreading, image tools such as Midjourney and OpenAI’s DALL-E still produced basic visual mistakes. ComfyUI’s founders concluded that prompts could usually get creators only 60% to 80% of the way to the result they wanted, while the final stretch remained hard to manage. CEO Yoland Yan told TechCrunch that asking a model to change one small area could cause it to regenerate the whole image and overwrite parts that were already working.
That problem shaped ComfyUI’s interface. Its node-based system allows creators to separate model calls, image processing, and parameter control into modular steps rather than packing everything into one text instruction. The platform has accumulated more than 60,000 community-built custom nodes, giving it a large ecosystem beyond the core product itself.
From VFX Pipelines to a Super Bowl Ad
Users of ComfyUI span visual effects, animation, advertising, and industrial design. The source material says some film productions now list “ComfyUI artist or engineer” in job postings, a sign that the software is moving into specialized production roles. Co-founder Yannik Marek said the fresh capital will help the company push its open-source path and back the idea that the strongest tools should also be open.
One of the most visible examples cited is SVEDKA Vodka’s 2026 Super Bowl commercial, described as the first major Super Bowl ad created primarily with AI. ComfyUI was used in that production, putting the software inside a mainstream brand workflow rather than keeping it limited to experimental use.
Growing Market, Shifting Competition
The source estimates the AI image generation market at about $484 million in 2026, with growth to $1.75 billion by 2034 and a compound annual growth rate of roughly 17.4%. Competition is intense. Runway raised $315 million in a Series E round in February 2026 at a $5.3 billion valuation, while Midjourney holds about 26.8% of the global market and generates $500 million in annual revenue with around 40 employees.
ComfyUI is also operating in a field where the map is still changing. Its direct rival Weavy was acquired by Figma last year. Yan’s view is that in a world crowded with low-quality AI output, tools built around human control and collaborative creation will draw more attention. Model quality may keep improving, but the need for precise control over output has not gone away.
