On July 3, 2025, Cosmos and Interop Ventures hosted the Sovereign EVM Day in Cannes, France, bringing together over 18 ecosystem teams including Ripple, TAC, Stride, Starknet, Polygon, Babylon, and Pantera. The event showcased a wave of EVM-compatible chains and cross-chain solutions built on the Cosmos stack, signaling the maturation of the “Internet of Blockchains” vision.

Ripple’s XPL EVM Sidechain Goes Live

Luke Judges, Director of Ripple, and Ferran Torres, CEO of Peersyst, announced the mainnet launch of the XPL EVM sidechain, built on the Cosmos SDK. This marks the first time the XRP Ledger (XRPL) gains native DeFi capabilities, opening the door for consumer-oriented financial applications on a network with over $127 billion in market capitalization. More than 6 million XRP users can now access applications across XRP, EVM, and Cosmos via the native IBC interoperability protocol. The sidechain is powered by Cosmos EVM, described as the only fully integrated EVM Layer-1 stack on the market, enabling developers to modify core chain logic with unprecedented flexibility.

TAC Brings EVM to Telegram’s Billion Users

Marco Monaco, Co-founder of TAC, presented the upcoming TAC blockchain — an EVM application layer designed as an extension of the TON and Telegram ecosystems. TAC is natively supported by Telegram’s built-in wallet, allowing over 1 billion Telegram users to access DeFi applications without leaving the messenger. Through IBC, TAC connects to Ethereum and hundreds of Cosmos chains, unlocking a previously impossible app ecosystem for TON.

Stride DEX: The IBC Flywheel for Cross-Chain DeFi

The Stride Labs team detailed their upcoming DEX, powered by the IBC Eureka protocol. The DEX aims to provide a deep liquidity layer over cross-chain assets and enable one-click routing through the Cosmos Hub. Users will be able to interact with native assets not only from IBC-connected chains and Ethereum, but also from Solana and Bitcoin, abstracting the multichain experience into high-performance programmable DeFi.

Cosmos Emerges as the Hub for Multi-Chain Assets

Barry Plunkett, Co-CEO of Interchain Labs, stated: “From Telegram to XRP, millions of people will soon access EVM and the multichain world with Cosmos. Sovereign EVM Day solidified the Internet of Blockchains as a reality today. We are uniting and connecting ecosystems via IBC to create new opportunities at the intersection of all chains.” The event also highlighted upcoming IBC upgrades that will connect Ethereum, L2s, and Solana, while projects like Stride and TAC demonstrate how Cosmos is becoming the foundational rail for financial assets, RWAs, institutions, and multichain applications.

Organized at the Hotel Belle Plage, Sovereign EVM Day was the first in the “Sovereign Series” of curated global gatherings, dedicated to exploring Web3’s true potential at the intersection of all chains. For more information, follow @cosmos on X.
