Decentralized exchange aggregator CoW Swap has announced two significant upgrades to its solver infrastructure, targeting the bidding mechanism and execution process. According to the official announcement, the new features include “hidden bidding until deadline” and the removal of the Uniform Clearing Price (UCP) constraint, which are expected to noticeably enhance trade execution quality and system efficiency.
Hidden Bidding: Preventing Information Leakage, Boosting Fairness
The first upgrade requires all solvers to submit blind bids before the deadline, meaning they cannot see competitors' quotes. In traditional open bidding, solvers might adjust their strategies based on others' offers, potentially deviating from the user's optimal outcome. The hidden bidding mechanism forces each solver to independently evaluate their own algorithms and liquidity, thereby securing better execution prices for users. This design resembles a “sealed-bid” auction principle, increasing fairness and randomness in the bidding process and helping discover true market equilibrium.
Removal of Uniform Clearing Price: Simplifying Logic, Accelerating Solver Optimization
The second major change is the elimination of the Uniform Clearing Price (UCP) constraint. Previously, CoW Swap required all matched users to receive the same clearing price, ensuring price consistency but limiting solvers' flexibility in finding optimal solutions. With UCP removed, solvers can design differentiated pricing strategies for different orders' liquidity conditions and time sensitivity, thus discovering market-wide optimal solutions in a shorter timeframe. The team stated that this simplification reduces computational complexity for solvers while still preventing obvious price unfairness among users — all trades still execute within CoW Swap's batch auction framework, with actual price deviations tightly controlled within minimal ranges.

CoW Swap, an intent-based DEX aggregator, leverages solver competition to achieve zero slippage and MEV-resistant trading. These upgrades further strengthen the competitive environment for solvers, reducing the possibility of collusion while improving capital efficiency. The market has responded positively: as of press time, the COW token price has risen 1.22% following the announcement, trading near recent highs.
Notably, the CoW Swap team did not disclose a specific deployment timeline but stated that the new features have been validated on testnets and will migrate to mainnet soon.
