Circle said native USDC, EURC, and CCTP will soon launch on Cronos, bringing new stablecoin rails to the EVM-compatible Layer-1 built by Crypto.com. Developer testing is already available. The rollout is aimed at payments, trading, DeFi, prediction markets, treasury operations, and agent-based workflows running on the network.
Native USDC and EURC come with direct redemption
According to Circle, native USDC and EURC on Cronos will support 1:1 redemption for U.S. dollars and euros. The tokens will also carry full reserve backing and features tied to MiCA compliance. That gives Cronos applications access to Circle-issued stablecoins on the chain itself rather than relying only on bridged versions.
Cronos already supports bridged USDC under the label USDC.e. Circle said the Cronos team plans to work with apps and protocols to move liquidity toward native USDC over time. Existing USDC.e will keep operating normally and remain clearly labeled across block explorers, interfaces, and documentation.
CCTP removes the need for third-party bridges
Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol, or CCTP, will let users move native USDC across supported blockchains without using third-party bridges. That changes how USDC can circulate between networks connected to the protocol. One point matters here: the transfer path is built around native USDC, not a wrapped bridge asset.
Circle also said access to CCTP will center on eligible institutional traders and teams. Those users will be able to use fiat onramps and offramps, deposits, withdrawals, and API connectivity for native USDC on Cronos.
Cronos expands payment, trading and DeFi use cases
Cronos is positioned as an EVM-compatible Layer-1 supporting payments, AI-focused workflows, and DeFi trading applications. Native USDC will also become a dollar settlement option inside the Cronos app. Through that app, users can access tokenized stocks, crypto trading, and prediction markets from a single account; with native USDC, they will be able to deposit dollars and trade across those markets.
Circle added that native USDC and EURC can support dollar- and euro-denominated markets on Cronos, serving as collateral and settlement assets for DeFi applications as well as agent-to-agent transactions. Developers can already test fund flows on Cronos using free testnet USDC and EURC from Circle’s Faucet. More details on the integration are expected closer to launch.
