The cryptocurrency market experienced a sharp downturn on July 23, as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP led a broad selloff. Bitcoin slipped 3.1% to $67,044.23, Ethereum dropped 4.0% to $1,957.48, and XRP fell 4.4% to $1.37. The declines signal a market-wide correction after weeks of relative stability.

Major Altcoins Hit Hard: BNB Down 5.1%, SOL Loses 4.8%

Beyond the top three, Binance Coin (BNB) slid 5.1% to $601.98, and Solana (SOL) dropped 4.8% to $81.39. Dogecoin (DOGE) fell 3.4% to $0.09113. TRON (TRX) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) each gave up 1.1%. The broad-based selling pressure left investors uncertain about the near-term direction.

Smaller Altcoins Buck the Trend: Greyhunt Soars 84%, Islamic Coin Up 56%

In contrast to the bloodbath among large caps, several small-cap tokens posted eye-popping gains. Greyhunt (HUNT) surged 84.4%, Islamic Coin (ISLM) rose 55.7%, and Power Protocol (POWER) climbed 42.7%. These moves suggest a rotation of capital from liquid mega-caps into highly volatile smaller projects, as traders hunt for alpha during the downturn.

While the overall market mood remains bearish, the resilience of some small altcoins indicates that not all crypto sectors are bleeding. However, such sharp rallies often come with extreme risk and may not be sustainable.
