Crypto.com announced plans to launch OG, a dedicated prediction market platform, before the 2026 Super Bowl. Users will be able to trade event contracts covering sports, entertainment, politics, and publicly traded companies, with leverage and margin trading available. The move puts the crypto exchange directly into the U.S. prediction market race.
40x Weekly Growth Drives Spin-Off
Co-founder and CEO Kris Marszalek said the company's event contract business saw weekly order flow surge 40 times over the past six months, making a standalone platform necessary. OG will leverage the exchange's existing backend technology and has already registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The CFTC last week also signaled new rulemaking to govern the burgeoning industry, inching closer to a formal regulatory framework.
Leverage, Full Coverage: Sports to Politics
The platform will allow users to bet on outcomes from presidential elections to the Super Bowl and March Madness, with the ability to use leverage on positions. Nick Lundgren, a Crypto.com executive appointed as OG CEO, said the company is U.S.-based and will focus on the domestic market initially. Sports contracts will dominate around the Super Bowl and March Madness, but the plan is to gradually expand into entertainment, politics, and corporate events to draw a broader investor base. The prediction market model works like an exchange — users buy and sell event contracts whose prices reflect outcome probabilities, with the platform earning fees or spreads.
The industry has seen a burst of activity: Kalshi and Polymarket have already attracted significant volumes. By launching just ahead of the Super Bowl, Crypto.com aims to capture the massive public attention around the sporting event. OG's CFTC-registered status could become a key differentiator as regulatory scrutiny on prediction markets intensifies.
