Bitcoin and Ethereum Trade Flat, BlockDAG Defies Red
Bitcoin (BTC) stood at $68,758, down 0.27% on the day, with $37.6 billion in volume and a $1.37 trillion market cap. Ethereum (ETH) was nearly unchanged at $2,113, down 0.17%. Polkadot and XRP Ledger were among the few bright spots in major caps.
BlockDAG Network (BDAG) was the standout gainer, jumping 14.23% to $0.02717. SIREN climbed 10.95% to $0.6049, and Canton (CC) rose 5.71% to $0.1487. On the losing side, FET dropped 6.98% to $0.2254, AVAX fell 6.97% to $8.81, and ZRO lost 6.07% to $1.76.
Extreme Fear Deepens, Stablecoins and DeFi Shrink
The Crypto Fear & Greed Index printed a reading of 11, down from 13 yesterday, firmly in "extreme fear" territory. Stablecoin market cap fell 0.3% to $310.6 billion; DeFi's total cap dropped 0.5% to $49.2 billion, representing just 2.0% of the global market.
Regulatory and Infrastructure Headlines
SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the crypto safe harbor proposal is now under White House review, including startup exemptions and token guidance. Uniswap founder Hayden Adams revealed that Uniswap's API now powers roughly 40% of MetaMask aggregated swap transactions one month after integration. TRM Labs reported that Indonesia convicted three individuals for financing terrorism via crypto, using blockchain evidence to trace transfers linked to an ISIS-affiliated network.
An ecosystem protocol launched STRIDE and SIRN initiatives covering security reviews, threat monitoring, formal verification, and real-time incident response. Aave said it would wind down certain services due to strategic disagreements and contributor losses. Separately, an on-chain routing engine posted test data showing round-trip costs below two basis points.
Compared to April 6 (when cap rose 2.2% to $2.45T), market sentiment reversed sharply. With extreme fear and selective liquidity, short-term risk remains high. Traders are advised to conduct thorough due diligence and maintain tight risk controls.
