Prominent crypto influencer Ben 'Bitboy' Armstrong (real name Benjamin Charles Armstrong) was arrested on September 25, 2023, while livestreaming an attempt to confront his former business partner, Carlos Diaz, over an allegedly stolen Lamborghini. The dramatic incident unfolded outside Diaz's home in Gwinnett County, Georgia, and was broadcast live on YouTube before police officers intervened.
Live Stream Turns Into Arrest: The Lamborghini and Affair Details
In the footage, Armstrong is seen walking up to Diaz’s residence and knocking on the door while narrating his grievances. Moments later, law enforcement arrived on the scene. During his conversation with police, Armstrong stated he was unarmed but admitted there was a firearm inside his vehicle. He then disclosed that a woman with whom he had an extramarital affair was also in the truck, claiming she was “involved in the situation” and that his wife was aware of it.
According to records from the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department, the 40-year-old influencer was booked into jail with a bond set at $2,600. The booking was later updated to reflect the bond amount. Carlos Diaz, a consultant and investor in the NFT space, later posted security camera footage on X (formerly Twitter) confirming Armstrong’s visit, showing him walking up to the front door and knocking.
Community Reaction and Preceding Brand Removal
The crypto community erupted with reactions. The account Autism Capital posted: “NOW THIS IS THE CONTENT WE LIVE FOR. CRYPTO GRIFTER BITBOY SELF DESTRUCTING. BEAUTIFUL!” Diaz responded directly: “@BenArmstrongsX Don’t know when to stop lying.”
This arrest comes less than a month after Armstrong was removed from the Bitboy Crypto YouTube channel and the associated brand, controlled by Hit Network. At the time, the company cited reasons including relapse into substance abuse and alleged damages to employees and community members. The channel, once boasting over 1.4 million subscribers, is no longer under his control.
The incident has raised fresh questions about the conduct and accountability of crypto influencers, as well as the high-stakes drama that often surrounds the space.
