Bitcoin and Ethereum retreat as trading activity cools
Bitcoin traded at $62,925.52, a 2.57% decline in 24 hours, with volume at $30.4 billion and market capitalization at $1.26 trillion. Ethereum changed hands at $1,711.02, down 2.52% on the day, with $12.7 billion in trading volume and a market cap of $206 billion. Market share remained concentrated, with BTC dominance at 55.9% and ETH at 9.16%.
The comparison with June 18 shows a clear pullback: total market capitalization dropped from $2.30 trillion to $2.25 trillion, and aggregate volume eased from $86.5 billion to $81.7 billion. Prices fell, and participation softened at the same time.
LAB and SYN lead gainers while smaller tokens show sharp swings
Among the strongest movers, LAB rose to $17.76, up 34.88% with $62.33 million in trading volume. SYN climbed to $0.1181, gaining 43.26% on volume of $85.83 million. DEXE added 11.37% to reach $16.21, JTO advanced 8.03% to $0.7602, and JUP increased 2.84% to $0.195.
On the losing side, SPX fell 12.72% to $0.3683, ASTER dropped 12.03% to $0.6323, and VVV slid 9.72% to $14.37. SpaceX token was the standout extreme mover, priced at $0.059064 after a gain of more than 99.9K% in 24 hours, with trading volume of $111.23 million.
Stablecoins and DeFi edge higher during a weak session
Stablecoins posted a 0.2% increase over the past 24 hours, bringing sector market capitalization to $310.2 billion and trading volume to $68.6 billion. The DeFi market rose 0.1% to a capitalization of $68.2 billion, with volume at $5 billion and global dominance of 3%. Those readings contrasted with the declines in major assets and pointed to a more defensive market posture.
Institutional and regulatory updates remain active
Outside price action, Morgan Stanley submitted revised SEC filings for its Ethereum and Solana Trusts. Token Terminal data showed Circle controls 21.9% of the tokenized U.S. Treasury market, while the top four issuers together account for about 75.4%. Argentina also approved new tax exemptions for registered crypto service providers.
Other developments included Kalshi reportedly surpassing $2 billion in annualized revenue and beginning preliminary talks with investment banks about a future IPO. The SEC and CFTC opened a public consultation on swap reporting rules. Theodore Gillibrand’s derivatives platform APEC reached a valuation of $300 million after funding, and Drift launched a tool for affected users to verify DFX token allocations and insurance claims, though claims remain unavailable until exchange operations fully restart.
