The crypto market weakened over the last 24 hours, with total capitalization falling to $3.18 trillion, a 0.5% decline from the previous day. Total trading volume came in at $107 billion. Bitcoin and Ethereum both moved lower, while a handful of altcoins posted strong gains, leaving the market split between broad softness and isolated momentum.
Bitcoin dominance stood at 56.9%, while Ethereum accounted for 11.7% of the market. The report said 18,983 cryptocurrencies are currently being tracked. Sentiment stayed weak: the Fear and Greed Index was 25, still in Extreme Fear, down from 27 a day earlier and below the 29 level seen last week and last month.
Bitcoin and Ethereum Slip While Select Tokens Rally
BTC was priced at $90,526.44, down 0.5% over 24 hours, with $37.8 billion in trading volume and a market cap of about $1.8 trillion. ETH traded at $3,085.3, down 1.62%, with volume of $18.39 billion and a market cap near $372.3 billion.
Outside the majors, several tokens moved sharply higher. BIFI traded at $236.37 after a 97.33% jump. POL changed hands at $0.1592, up 14.3%, while PUMP rose 6.54% to $0.002314. In a separate list ranked by 24-hour gains, POL was shown up 14.91%, RENDER gained 8.03%, and PUMP added 7.33%.
Losers List and Sector Metrics Show Broader Weakness
The weakest performers included NIGHT, CC, and ZEC. NIGHT traded at $0.06613, down 11.48%; CC fell 7.23% to $0.1281; and ZEC slipped 7.00% to $402.33. DeepNode (DN) also moved lower despite elevated activity, trading at $1.27 after a 9.07% decline.
Stablecoins posted a 0.1% negative change, with market capitalization at $311.6 billion and trading volume of $85.5 billion. DeFi recorded a 0.7% decline over the same period, with market cap at $109 billion, trading volume at $3.8 billion, and global dominance at 3.5%.
Pump.fun Fee Update and OKX Institutional Restructuring
On the news side, Pump.fun updated its creator fee system. Token creators can now share fees with up to 10 wallets, transfer ownership, revoke permissions, and track fee claims with more transparency through both the app and web interface.
OKX also reorganized its global institutional business. The report said the shift led to the departure of about one-third of its institutional sales staff through a mix of layoffs and resignations, as the exchange moves toward a more traditional client coverage model.
Elsewhere, Bitmine Immersion appointed Young Kim as CFO and COO and added him to the board. The company scheduled a January 15 meeting in Las Vegas to discuss board elections and a share capital increase. In macro data, U.S. employment growth slowed in December, with payrolls rising by 50,000, below expectations, while unemployment fell to 4.4%.
Compared with January 9, total crypto market capitalization on January 10 slipped from $3.19 trillion to $3.18 trillion. The daily loss narrowed from 0.6% to 0.5%, but pressure on major assets remained in place as activity rotated into a small group of trending tokens.
