Data from Coinglass reveals that total liquidations in the cryptocurrency market reached $525 million over the past 24 hours, with long positions accounting for $387 million and short positions $137 million. Long liquidations made up 73.7% of the total, highlighting how recent price declines weighed heavily on leveraged bulls.
Breaking down by asset: BTC saw $186 million in liquidations, split into $175 million longs and just $11.0065 million shorts; ETH recorded $102 million, with longs at $88.3283 million and shorts $13.5024 million; SOL experienced $19.0023 million, nearly all from longs at $18.1563 million against only $0.846 million in shorts. Across all three major coins, long losses dramatically outpaced shorts—BTC’s long liquidations were roughly 16 times the short side.
This wave of forced closures comes amid elevated market volatility, as rapid pullbacks in major tokens triggered mass liquidations of overleveraged long positions, marking one of the higher liquidation totals in recent days.
