Security, regulation, and infrastructure updates shaped the news flow
Several headline items came from security incidents and policy moves. Bitcoin Core v31.1 was released with bug fixes, performance improvements, and security enhancements. The release addressed excessive disk usage and corrected a private broadcast IP privacy leak. In a separate incident, one user lost 999,999 USDT after approving a phishing token, and the attacker emptied almost the entire wallet in just 36 seconds.
Exchange and regulatory developments were also active. Binance rejected claims that it had reduced cooperation with U.S. law enforcement, saying its compliance process remains unchanged while discussions with the DOJ continue. Russia’s parliament passed the first reading of a bill that would criminalize unlicensed crypto exchanges, with penalties that may include fines, forced labor, or up to five years in prison. In Europe, Kraken led MiCA exchanges in spot liquidity at $399.71 million and listed 1,704 markets.
Uniswap and Robinhood Wallet roll out product-related changes
Protocol and wallet updates added to the day’s market backdrop. Uniswap Labs proposed extending the Unification fee burn mechanism to v4 pools. Community voting is set to continue until July 12, with on-chain voting expected next week. Robinhood Wallet has added support for Robinhood Chain, letting users bridge assets from Ethereum, Solana, and Arbitrum and swap tokens directly inside the wallet app.
Compared with July 8, the market weakened on July 9. Total capitalization fell from $2.25 trillion to $2.21 trillion, the daily loss widened from 1% to 2.1%, and trading volume dropped from $71.5 billion to $67.6 billion. Sentiment improved only marginally, moving from 20 to 22, while prices remained under pressure.
