Blockchain analytics firm Arkham revealed that a whale wallet moved 5,000 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $348.8 million, and 261,025 Ethereum, worth around $543.3 million, to Binance in two large transactions. During the same period, the wallet also withdrew 144.4 million USDT. Observers suggest the activity reflects active portfolio rebalancing rather than mere storage.
Ethereum Transfers Routed Through Aave
Instead of being sent directly to Binance, the Ethereum went through addresses associated with the DeFi platform Aave before reaching the exchange. On-chain records show three staged transfers: 69,378 ETH ($144.4M), 96,117 ETH ($200M), and 95,527 ETH ($198.8M) were systematically routed to Binance. This layered approach points to a carefully planned, phased strategy, not a simple one-step move.
Wallet Still Holds Over $2.6 Billion in Crypto
Despite the large outflows, the wallet retains a significant reserve: 20,661 BTC (~$1.45B) and 547,720 ETH (~$1.15B) remain under its control. The data implies the owner opted for a notable liquidity reallocation to the exchange without a full market exit.
Key Price Levels Under Scrutiny
Movements of this magnitude typically trigger short-term selling pressure concerns. Notably, these transactions occurred as Bitcoin traded near $70,000 and Ethereum hovered around $2,090, heightening market attention. Analysts identify Bitcoin's $70,000 level and the $2,080–$2,100 range for Ethereum as critical near-term liquidity zones. Should the wallet owner decide to sell the transferred assets, these levels could face significant tests.
According to Arkham, “the large wallet holder transferred a major portion of their assets to an exchange account, but still retains substantial holdings in both Bitcoin and Ethereum.” Not all exchange transfers are immediate preludes to selling—shifting crypto to an exchange can broaden options, including rotating holdings, partial profit-taking, or updating collateral for other trades.
Whether the holder will execute sales remains unknown. The broader crypto community is closely monitoring potential price volatility and liquidity implications stemming from these significant movements.
