Binance founder CZ said Hong Kong's push for stablecoin and exchange licenses makes the city a sandbox for financial innovation and Web3. He urged regulators to increase freedom, balancing oversight with innovation, and said Hong Kong cannot rely only on its stock exchange. He compared regional policies: the UAE leads, the U.S. and Japan are further along, Hong Kong is moving fast, Singapore is conservative. He argued tokenization of real-world assets can break time-zone and cross-border barriers, link global markets, and improve liquidity in smaller markets. CZ also predicted AI agents will use stablecoins and other crypto assets for transactions. He said YZiLabs, his vehicle for early-stage backing, has invested in nearly 200 projects in the past six months, roughly 80% focused on Web3 and 20% on AI.

Binance founder CZ said Hong Kong is advancing stablecoin and exchange licensing, effectively creating a sandbox for financial innovation and Web3 businesses. If the city wants to keep its place as Asia's financial hub, it cannot hold onto the Hong Kong Stock Exchange alone, he argued. Regulators should allow more freedom, striking a balance between oversight and innovation.

CZ compared regulatory conditions across jurisdictions. Some places have too little regulation, while others are overly strict. The UAE is furthest ahead, the U.S. and Japan have made solid progress, Hong Kong is moving relatively fast, and Singapore is more conservative. On real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, he said it can get past time-zone and cross-border limits, connect global markets, and improve liquidity for assets in smaller markets. He also said the combination of AI and crypto is a clear trend, and that AI agents may eventually use stablecoins and other crypto assets to complete transactions.

CZ said he is backing early-stage projects mainly through YZiLabs. Over the past six months, it has invested in nearly 200 projects, with about 80% focused on Web3 and 20% on AI. (Via HK01)
