DeFi lending protocol Radiant has announced that its DAO is no longer able to sustain operations and will gradually enter a sunsetting phase. The decision comes after 18 months of continuous efforts following a hack in October 2024, with no progress on fund recovery and no new capital infusion.
Radiant, a cross-chain lending market built on LayerZero, previously played an active role in multichain DeFi. However, the aftermath of the hack left the protocol without the necessary financial runway or developmental momentum to continue responsibly. In its official statement, the team acknowledged that the current state prevents any sustainable long-term operation.
The protocol's attempted recovery — including governance proposals and repair measures — ultimately failed to restore user confidence or attract sufficient capital, leading to the orderly shutdown. This case highlights the persistent challenges faced by decentralized finance protocols when confronting severe security breaches.
