China’s digital yuan operations management center has provided details on two recently released developments: DCEPS, the central bank-side digital yuan system, and the e-CNY SMART Contract framework. According to the explanation, DCEPS is positioned as a comprehensive payment and settlement platform that combines issuance management, retail, wholesale, blockchain-based payments and smart contract services. It also serves as the technical foundation for Shubi Da. The framework has already been deployed in scenarios including prepaid fund management, supply chain finance, fiscal subsidies, consumer red packets and wage distribution for migrant workers. The center also said the digital yuan was upgraded from cash-type 1.0 to deposit currency-type 2.0 on Jan. 1, 2026.
