Shipments of equipment tied to co-packaged optics, or CPO, are picking up, according to an Economic Daily report cited by ChainCatcher. Suppliers including Zhit De, Gao Ming Tie and Dong You Da said orders from Europe, the U.S. and Asia are coming in, with order visibility extending to the second quarter of next year. The companies are also moving ahead with capacity expansion.
The report said customers are increasing adoption of high-precision motion platforms and automated optical coupling equipment. Beyond large Western manufacturers, client numbers from Southeast Asia, including Singapore and Malaysia, have also risen.
Zhit De said its linear motor business recently booked additional wins after receiving orders for thousands of units from a leading international CPO equipment maker. The company is also in talks with domestic and Western manufacturers on CPO alignment module cooperation, with preliminary total orders seen at around 1,000 units. To meet demand, it is continuing expansion at the Shugu and Southern Taiwan Science Park sites, with new capacity expected to come online in the fourth quarter and volume growth continuing next year.
Gao Ming Tie said it has passed certification from one of the world’s top 10 optical communications brand manufacturers and secured orders for 800G and 1.6T optical module coupling and alignment modules. In the first half of the year, optical communications products accounted for 79% of its revenue. The company also acquired about a 60% stake in an optics and medical factory in Taichung. After setting up a production and assembly line, it expects capacity to expand by more than double, while its Dongguan subsidiary is expected to ramp up after the middle of next year.
Dong You Da, which is working with Japan’s Suruga on CPO optical coupling equipment, said its on-hand orders are visible through the second quarter of next year. It has also started planning factories in Vietnam, India and Mexico. Capacity utilization is set to rise from 70% at the end of 2025 to 80%.
