Blockchain analytics firm Elliptic has tracked more than 50 security incidents linked to North Korea this year, with total stolen funds reaching about $1.2 billion, according to a report cited by Insurance Journal. The firm also said some of the funds stolen from Bitget overlap with addresses associated with last year’s $1.5 billion Bybit exchange hack. Based on the laundering patterns seen on-chain so far, Elliptic’s preliminary assessment points to the hacker group TraderTraitor as being behind the Bitget incident. The disclosure ties the latest case to a broader set of North Korea-related crypto theft investigations already under review by the company.
