In a recent exchange on social media, Elon Musk replied to a community query regarding the timeline for China to achieve Fable-level artificial intelligence. “Probably Q1,” Musk said on June 18, without specifying the year. The brief response has drawn attention amid ongoing discussions about China's AI progress.

Earlier, X user Teortaxes noted that GLM 5.2 currently lags behind frontier models by about seven months, placing it roughly at the Opus 4.7-4.8 level. Additionally, Mythos reached Preview status in early February 2026, with the full PRC Mythos (referred to as “Fable”) expected to launch between November and December 2026.
