According to TechFlow, on June 18, Elon Musk responded to a question from the X community regarding when China might reach Fable-level AI, saying succinctly: "Probably Q1." The remark has sparked discussions on the pace of Chinese large models catching up with frontier technology.
Earlier, X user Teortaxes analyzed that GLM 5.2 currently lags behind frontier models by about seven months, with overall capability roughly at the level of Opus 4.7-4.8. Meanwhile, Mythos reached Preview status in early February 2026, and the full version of PRC Mythos (i.e., “Fable”) is expected to be released between November and December 2026.
