Elon Musk has publicly clarified the parameter count of the Grok 4.3 Beta model developed by his AI company xAI, correcting previous speculation. Responding to a user on X, Musk stated that the currently released Grok 4.3 Beta is a 0.5 trillion (500 billion) parameter model, not the 1 trillion parameters that had been widely rumoured.
The clarification came after X user Mark Kretschmann posted inaccurate information about the model's size. Musk quickly corrected the record and added that the 1 trillion parameter version of Grok 4.3 is still under training and is expected to be completed in approximately five days. The CEO of xAI and Tesla further highlighted that the upcoming 1 trillion model will bring significant improvements in coding capabilities, long-context handling, and overall performance.
xAI Accelerates Iteration with New Factory Online
Beyond model details, Musk announced that the SpaceXAI model factory is now fully operational. This facility is dedicated to training and deploying large-scale AI models, designed to accelerate xAI's R&D cycles. According to Musk, the company plans to release an improved base model every two weeks, entering a phase of high-frequency iteration for the Grok family.
The launch of Grok 4.3 Beta represents a key move in xAI's competition against OpenAI, Google, and others. The 500 billion parameter count, while lower than initial speculation, still places the model among the most powerful in the industry, capable of complex reasoning and dialogue tasks. Musk's willingness to directly engage and correct misinformation underscores xAI's emphasis on transparency within its community.
One-Trillion Parameter Version: Focus on Coding and Long Context
Musk specifically highlighted coding ability and long-context processing as the key advancements expected from the 1 trillion parameter version. In the current AI race, code generation and long-document comprehension are critical applications. If Grok 4.3 can deliver breakthroughs in these areas, it could gain significant traction among developers. Musk has previously emphasised xAI's goal of building models that pursue “maximum truth,” and the larger model is expected to further enhance logical reasoning and factual accuracy.

As of press time, xAI has not set an exact release date for the 1 trillion parameter model, but Musk's “five days” comment suggests training is nearing completion.
