On May 11, 2023, Elon Musk shared a Milady meme on Twitter, igniting a frenzy across the Milady ecosystem.

LADYS token rocketed more than 5,000% in 24 hours, while the floor price of Milady Maker NFTs jumped from 3.75 ETH to 5.25 ETH, later hitting a record high of 7.8 ETH, according to crypto price data. The rally wasn't isolated—secondary market volume soared and rare NFTs sold out quickly.

Milady Crypto: Two Sides of the Same Meme

Strictly speaking, “Milady Crypto” refers to two separate projects: Milady Maker NFT and the Milady Meme Coin (LADYS). The NFT collection, launched in August 2021 by the anonymous Remilia Collective, features 10,000 neo-chibi profile pictures with a “drip” rating system. LADYS, a fan-driven meme coin created on May 7, 2023, aims to draw attention to the NFT collection and serve as its “drip currency,” though it has no official affiliation.

The token’s official page describes LADYS as a “self-organised meme coin” that functions as “the points for karma, charm and beauty.” Its roadmap includes trending on Twitter, listings on CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap, community partnerships, CEX listings, and “taking over the internet.”

Founder Controversy: Charlotte Fang’s Troubled Past

Remilia Collective is led by Charlotte Fang (aka Miya), who conceived the Milady idea. The actual artwork was created by an anonymous member known as “Milady Sonora.”

Fang has been linked to a suspended Twitter account that promoted suicide, racism, and misogyny; she apologized and denied direct involvement. In September 2021, some NFT avatars displayed the word “Treblinka” on t-shirts—a reference to a Nazi concentration camp. The team called it a random generation error, but skepticism persisted. Earlier writings by Miya included antisemitic, racist (comparing Black people to gorillas), and sexist content, which Fang dismissed as jokes, alienating many in the community.

Musk Effect: From Meme to Moon

Musk’s tweet was not his first crypto-related post, but his explicit use of a Milady meme triggered a buying spree. No evidence suggests Musk owns any Milady NFT, yet his social influence alone lifted the asset’s floor price by over 100% within a day.

NFT data shows the floor price surged from 3.75 ETH to a peak of 7.8 ETH, making it one of the largest single-day jumps in crypto art history. Speculators and long-term holders alike are betting on a second wave, with much of the original art already sold out.

LADYS Token: High Risk, High Reward?

LADYS completed its first two roadmap phases within a week (Twitter trending, basic listings), but the team remains anonymous and lacks a formal roadmap. As a meme coin, its volatility is extreme.

Data suggests investor interest in Milady is waning, and some analysts doubt a return to previous highs. Yet meme coins have produced extraordinary returns for early risk-takers. This article does not constitute financial advice; all investments carry risk.
